DIY Handprint Ornament for Pets or Kids!

Hey guys and welcome back! Today I am going to show you all have to make your very own DIY ornament! This is something you could do with your pets or children. Plus it is super easy to achieve so lets get in to the tutorial.

First you will need to gather your supplies. For me I was able to find these ornament kits at the Target one spot for $3.00, which came with everything that I needed. But if you are unable to get your hands on a kit like this then you will need the following:
  • 1 cup of plaster
  • 1 cup of luke warm water
  • 1 mixing bowl
  • A mold
  • A detail paintbrush
  • Paint in colors of your choice
  • 1 Ribbon
  • Pencil
  • Stir Stick
Above is everything that I used to create my ornament. For me I am going to be doing this with my kitty, Hazel.

Now take your plaster and put 3 tablespoons of your water and half a cup of the plaster and mix that together. Once that is incorporated, had the remainder of plaster and around 5-6 tablespoons of the water. You will want to mix this until you get a cake mix consistency.

Once you have mixed that then pour this into your mold. Please disregard the gold pigment I had put into my mix, it never showed through and I would've had to use a lot of the pigment to get the look I wanted.

Once it is in your mold let this sit from 3-6 minutes. Please continue to check on it because this will harden quickly. This is actually my second attempt that I am showing you, I will you show you pictures of my first attempt at the end.

Once you have let the mold sit, you will have noticed that it is still wet but it has the ability to hold its shape a little bit. This is where you will want to wrangle up your pet or kiddos. When pressing their hand or paw into the plaster, be firm and gentle and make sure to press on all of their fingers or toes as well as the back of their hands or feet. Above is the result you should get. With mine I also added her name and the year we made it. At this stage you will also want to add a hole in for your ribbon. You could also paint that on but I decided to emboss it into the plaster.

From here let this sit for 8-10 hours or just overnight should dry it enough. Once it has dried, then you can fill in the imprint with paint and decorate it more.

Depending on the paint you have used or how much you have used let it dry for 2-3 hours. Then you are ready to pop it out of the mold. Now you could've popped it out of the mold before painting it but I just wanted to make sure that the plaster was fully dried. Once you have popped it thread your ribbon and tie it in a knot, and you're done! All what's left to do is to hang it on your tree!

Above is my finished product! Please let me know if you decide to try this out and share your pictures with me by tagging me on Twitter or Instagram by using @emilyle96.

Christmas 2016 Decoration Inspiration!

It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Hello glitters, today I am coming at you with a new blog post. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and now it is time to kick it into gear! This post is all about decorating for Christmas! I just wanted to give you some inspiration if you haven't started the Christmas madness!

But first, I would like to let you all know my new Blog Schedule!
Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays! The posts will be up on or before 11:59 PM EST. So please check back on the specific days or subscribe to my feed to be notified when a blog post goes up! Lets get on to the good good!

Of course the main focal point of any great Christmas Décor is the tree! So this year I went to Target and purchased a 6ft pre lit tree which you can purchase BUY TREE. For the tree and my overall theme I really wanted to stick with gold, silver and small pops of white and red! I also wanted to be a little simplistic and I tried to not over crowd my tree with a ton of ornaments.

Above you can see that I have wrapped my tree in white and gold tinsel and I overlapped them. I also then adorned my tree with large gold glitter snowflakes and small white, iridescent snowflakes. I had the gold snowflakes previously, but I just purchased a package of the small snowflakes. I also purchased the white deer head topper just this year as well. Both the topper and the white snowflakes were purchased from Walmart.
Here is a close up of that topper. If you don't know I am obsessed with deer, it doesn't matter if it is Christmas or just the middle of March. I just want them in my house at all times! I think they are so beautiful and feminine.

These three ornaments were all purchased from Target last year and they no longer sell the same style. But the reason for the E and the Z ornaments is because of my initial and my boyfriends initial. They are large white round ornaments with a gold shimmer letter in the script font. They are timeless and they add just a little extra something special to our tree! The first ornament that says 'Noel' were also purchased from Target last year and I absolutely love these! I wish I would've purchased more. I also have a couple others in 'Merry' & 'Joy'. This year they do have a similar ornament except they are not in cursive and they are plain white. CLICK HERE TO CHECK THEM OUT!

Here are just a couple of close ups of the tree and an overall view of the finished product!

Moving onto my FAVORITE spot in my apartment! Which is my coffee bar, which of course if you're knew I am obsessed with coffee too...so this works out great! This just give this a moment of silence to just look at this beauty!
I think why I love this space so much is because it is so esthetically appealing with the red and the gold with a hint of silver!
Here is a close up shot, starting out the two felt gingerbread men are handmade by me! I made them last year for my Chinchillas to have in their stockings. Also please don't mind the gift cards, I just forgot they were sitting there when I took the pictures and they just blended right in! For the little candy canes you see in the gold mug, those were purchased from Pottery Barn last year! They are metal and just so dainty, plus they hand of the side of your cup!
I have these red and gold 'Merry Christmas' stir sticks that I purchased from Target this year in the One Spot section. I have them in a perfume holder from Bath & Body Works a few years ago.
I also added these cute ceramic red teaspoon 'spoons'. I use these to scoop out coffee and for looks too. These were purchased from Walmart last year and they have them this year too!
This table runner definitely pulls everything together. It has a beautiful plaid reindeer that is lined with gold beads. It is also a beige background and lined with a plaid ruffle edge! Which also pulls together the living space. This was purchased from TJ Maxx last year as well.

The next space is my desk area, where I am sitting right now! It's not much but it just adds a magical touch.

Here is just a quick overview of my desk area. To the left of the picture I have my wreath I started working on last year and I finally finished just this year. I added the gold 'Merry Christmas" sign to it. then to the left  I put a silver mercury reindeer votive that I purchased last year from Walmart.

Here are a couple of close up shots of these two items that I have sitting in my desk space.

Just to the left of my desk area, I have a wax melt that I just purchased this year in Amish Country. This is so cute because it will work all year round for my personally and the scents I have been melting are to die for!

Each scent I have sitting next to the warmer at all times. I have 3 Christmas scents that I have been melting so far. The first one is if you love something a little sweet and tiny hint of pine. It is called Scarlet Cypress Wreath. It has a sweet scent of cranberries and then a tiny hint of the pine wreath! BUY SCARLETT CYPRESS MELT The third favorite I have been using is the Perfectly Pine scent. It just is a huge smell of a pine tree, basically like you have a real tree in your house! BUY PERFECTLY PINE MELT The last one I have been melting is called Christmas Morning Latte. This is just a very mocha kind of smell with some sweetness. BUY CHRISTMAS LATTE MELT

Next I would love to show you where my stockings are hung by the chimney with care! But not really by a chimney...lol!
Here is just an overview of my entertainment system. I have my stockings hung to the side of the TV and above the TV. I also have my gold reindeer I purchased from Target last year and we have it up all year. I also have my wooden white sleigh that is lined with fur. I have stuffed some fake presents in their but you can see them. I also have some greenery along the top but that is always there.
Here is a close up of the reindeer pulling the sleigh if you will. Also my stockings on the left and right were purchased from Target last year. The little red ones were all handmade by my mom. Thanks mom!! I love them

Now these are just a couple of small spots that have a little Christmas cheer. My 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas' sign was purchased from the Dollar Tree and I love it! The bottom picture features my 'Treats From Santa Paws' ceramic canister that houses Hazel's (my kitty's) food in. Next to that is the Glade Apple Cinnamon Room Spray which smells amazing!
Just around the bar window I have hung my extra gold tinsel around the perimeter of the window to add some pizazz.

The next little bits and bobs are actually just little candle holders I have sitting around the house.

In these candle holders I have stuffed them with scented pinecones and the white snowflakes that I had left over from the trees. As well as a couple of small ornaments I used last year on my smaller white tree. Also the champagne glitter reindeer you see in this picture and above the coffee bar are also from the Dollar Tree.

Here is just an accent pillow I purchased last year from TJ Maxx.
This is where the coffee bar ties in with the living space of my apartment. This pillow has the matching plaid pattern from the runner and this pillow is extremely cozy and soft!

I also wanted to share with you my favorite Christmas books to read and look through during the holiday season. Even if it is catered for kids, I don't care! CLICK HERE TO BUY Gingerbread Baby and CLICK HERE TO BUY The Wild Christmas Reindeer. They have stunning illustrations and kids love these books!

The last Christmas spot in the house, which was also done last minute is in the entry way.

I got this wall shelf from Target, which my mom gave to me when we moved. I set my new silver snowflake art that I purchased from Walmart this year and I love this! I also stuffed the shelves with scented pinecones, small ornaments and left over snowflakes. I have also laid the gold beads I purchased last year for my tiny tree we had the previous year.

Well glitters, that wraps it up for this blog post! I have linked EVERY and ANYTHING I can find for you guys. I hope you were inspired this Christmas Season. Comment down below your favorite Christmas Movie! Mine is National Lampoons Christmas Vacation and ELF. Thanks for reading and be sure to come back on Wednesday!!

Lime Light by Alcone Skin Care Review!

Hello everyone! Long time no read...ay?

Today I am bringing to you a Skin Care Review! First off I want to thank Dana Michel for sending me these samples to review for all of my readers. I also want to mention that these photos ARE NOT MINE. I have taken these from Lime Lights website so that you will have a better view of the product itself. Please also keep a look out I will be posting a video review on my YouTube Channel so please go check out my channel www.youtube.com/user/XxweluvmakeupxX and SUBSCRIBE to be notified when my video goes live. Now lets get into the review!

To PURCHASE any of the products you see in my review and to see more of the products they have to offer such as makeup and other skin care items please visit their website www.limelightbyalcone.com/diana/products

Overview of Lime Light by Alcone: Looking over their website they have posted on every page that all of their products are phthalate free, paraben free, chemical free and cruelty free. For each products page they list the ingredients, how to use their product and 'The Story' behind the product and why certain ingredients are in the product.

My Skin Overview: I do want to let you know of my skin just really quick before I begin. My skin is oily to dry. I have an oily forehead and a little bit around my nostrils. I have very dry cheeks and a little bit of a dry nose on the bridge and between my brows. I have enlarged pores and of course acne prone skin. For me personally my skin reacts well to salicylic acid and tea tree oil. I love to do face masks, I currently use St Ives Collagen Elastin Lotion daily. I also use the St Ives Apricot Scrub once a week and the White Rain Face Cleanser daily. To remove makeup I will use the Garnier Micellar Water. **DISCLAIMER: This week I did not use any of these products and in place used these products by Lime Light**

Skin Therapist; Moisturizer: This product is recommended for normal to dry skin or mature skin types. As recommended on their website they say to gently massage into face, neck, and décolleté after cleansing, paying special attention to dry areas. For this product their main focus is the pomegranate and oats. The pomegranate sterols really concentrate on dry areas of the face and the oats are calming to the skin and help to reduce inflammation. The full size container is a pump and the full size bottle contains 1.8 OZ and retails for $26.00.

My Thoughts: When first opening my sample I immediately smelled the product, my initial thought is that it has a very natural herbal scent. It definitely doesn't smell like pomegranate at all but the scent is not overpowering at all and once massaged into the skin the scent disappears. I have used this product 4 times, so a little goes a long way! Overall it made my skin very rejuvenated and moisturized and I would give this product 8 out of 10 stars.

Dream Clean; Cleanser: This product is recommended for normal to oily skin types or acne prone skin types. On their website they recommend if you have oily skin to use this once in the morning and once in the evening. If you have combination they recommend to use Dream Clean in the evening and their other cleanser Quench Cleanse in the morning, but for this product all you do is massage into the skin using circular, upward strokes. Remove with several splashes of warm water followed by a cool water splash. For this product their main focus is the aloe and soapberry. The aloe is infused into this product to create a barrier for the skin and to keep residue out and moisture in. The soapberry is a natural cleanser that also fights sun spots on the skin. The full size container does have a pump and the full size amount is 4 OZ and retails for $26.00.

My Thoughts: This product is very lightweight and it just has a clean smell to it. For my personally I don't think that this did well for my dry areas and in the end I had to use a lot more product to use on my face. It does suds up nice and it does remove heavy face makeup as well. I'm just not convinced that this is the best cleanser for my skin. I give this product a 4 out of 10 stars.

Skin Polish; Face Mask: For this product they state that this is recommended for all skin types. To use this mask just apply generously to freshly cleansed and damp skin. Massage for 30 seconds and leave on for 10-15 minutes. Remove with several splashes of warm water followed by a cool water splash. The main ingredients for this mask is the lemon peel and jojoba beads. The lemon peel is to stimulate new cell growth and the jojoba beads are a natural way to exfoliate. This product comes in a jar like container, the full size amount is 4 OZ and retails for $38.00

My Thoughts: First thought when using this in the shower, OMG it smells delicious. It smells like the lemon cheesecake dessert from Olive Garden (if you know what I am talking about). I also am obsessed with this product, when I first used this I just used this as an exfoliator and not a mask. I am dying, this is amazing. I could see results with just one use. My skin felt so soft and silky smooth very impressed! I definitely would recommend to use this as a daily gentle exfoliator, I was able to use this product 3 times and god I wish I had more. This is definitely going on my To Buy list. I give this a 10 out of 10 stars!

Masque of Zen; Face Mask: This is my last product and it is recommended for normal to oily skin or acne prone skin. They recommend to apply generously to freshly cleansed and damp skin. Massage for 30 seconds then leave on for 10-15 minutes. Remove with a warm, moist, cloth followed by several splashes of warm water. Also if you have acne prone skin this can be used to 3-4 times a week. But is also recommended for weekly use. The main focus for this product is the clay based formula and the tea tree oil. The tea tree oil is great for reducing inflammation and preventing acne. The full size container is in a jar like container and the full size contains 4 OZ and retails for $38.00.

My Thoughts: When I used this product for the first time, there wasn't a noticeable smell to me. The sample I received was also only good for one use. But when I applied this it was just a white cream and when applied and dried to my face it felt like a heavier white powder. I could definitely feel this tightening and firming my skin. It was very gentle and I could definitely see myself using this on a weekly basis. I would give this 8 out of 10 stars.
